Horse-Inspired Characters & Concepts That Should Gallop Into Epic Seven

Created by click.drive.grow on Feb 03, 2026

One of the best things about Epic Seven is the game's rich cast of characters. There are more than hundreds of heroes and counting, and each has distinct visuals, classes, and combat roles.   Still, don’t you think there is a piece missing from the puzzle? We are talking about horses included in the mixture. Most of the characters in the game take inspiration from all kinds of things, but not direct inspiration from horses or equine mythology.   And for a game that is steeped in fantasy and mythology, those gaps feel like an opportunity. So, imagine E7 with heroes that look like horses, celestial steeds, or the raw power of mythic chimeras.

What would they look like, and how would they fit into the Seventh World’s lore? Let’s find out.

The Case for Equine Heroes

When we look at most fantasy RPGs and MMO-style games, in most of them, we can find horse-inspired characters or at least mounts that carry both symbolic and mechanical weight. These are noble protectors, untamed wild forces, or mystical guardians.

Epic Seven’s cast already ranges from swift rangers to towering knights and mages, but none of them have the horse archetype. This is strange given how deeply fantasy RPGs often draw from mythological beasts like centaurs, kelpies, or winged horses.

Even E7’s Guardians (summoned allies that fight alongside certain heroes) sometimes remind us of equine shapes. For example, the Guardian associated with Moonlight Krau’s explanatory materials appears to resemble a horse-like form.

But none of the characters takes full inspiration from equine creatures. Horses have been around us for thousands of years. They have a special place in mythology and entertainment (horse racing), and they are responsible for our advancements through the years. So, they carry a lot of symbolism, which is missing from Epic Seven.

Horse culture has always carried a unique kind of excitement. For some fans, it starts with horse betting - studying form, speed, bloodlines, and that gut feeling right before the gates open. After all, horses represent speed, endurance, instinct, and risk, which are all ideas that already sit at the heart of both horse racing and strategy RPG gameplay.

Equine Myth In Epic Seven

One of the first things that anyone notices about Epic Seven is the number of heroes and battle roles the game supports. We have Soul Weaver, Ranger, Thief, Mage Warrior, and Knight. Each has dozens of playable units under them.

A Knight-class equine hero might be an armored lancer riding a spirit steed, which will blend mounted combat with frontline power. Or a ranger-class wind-element horse spirit that brings speed and agility, just like in horse racing.

There are plenty of concepts we can imagine that fit perfectly with each class and will add that missing equine piece to the puzzle.

Mythic Inspiration Ideas

Let’s imagine equine heroes for Epic Seven. What will be the best place to start? Well, we have creatures like unicorns and Pegasi. They are rich in symbolic meaning and could naturally extend E7’s worldbuilding.

Pegasus-like Archer could be a wind elemental ranger whose skills let her soar over enemies, while a unicorn-inspired healer might restore HP to teammates and remove debuffs.

There is no doubt that Epic Seven’s art direction already leans heavily into mythic and fantastical aesthetics, so bringing a mythic horse hero wouldn’t feel out of place. In fact, it is quite the opposite; it belongs to the game.

A Centaur Hero

Then we have a centaur hero, which people still struggle to believe is missing from E7’s universe, and a character that carries deep symbolism and mythology. We are talking about a half-warrior; half-horse armed with longbows or spears. A centaur could blend mobility, strength, and strategy.

Mechanically, such a hero could excel in hit-and-run tactics, charging into battle to do heavy damage and tank damage from enemies. Epic Seven’s battle systems thrive on turn order, buffs, and counters, and Centaur could introduce new things in many creative ways.

Horse Companions & Mounts

Another way horses could enter the Epic Seven universe without being directly playable heroes is through mount mechanics and companion skins. This is what most other similar games do when it comes to introducing equine aspects to the game.

So, imagine having an equine mount that offers passive buffs in adventure modes or special abilities in PvE. That sounds quite awesome. Getting a thunder horse as a mount (or pet) might increase your movement speed and crit rate in certain battles.

This will open a new concept to the game, which is something that most fans would like.

Lastly, the best way to avoid impacting the game mechanics is by introducing horse skins. They can be purely aesthetic with no powers or buffs. Maybe equine themes during seasonal events?

What do you think? Would you like to see horses in Epic Seven? There is no doubt that horses belong in this game; developers just need to figure out the best way to incorporate them.
